Organized on March 11, 1861, St. Paul Lutheran Church has a rich history of communicating the unconditional and undeserved love of God, displayed in the life and death of his Son Jesus. We offer Sunday school for children, a youth group (the Strieter League) for teens, Bible class for adults, adult information class for prospective members (or those who are simply curious about what we teach and believe), and corporate worship for all. St. Paul also works with nearby churches Grace and Trinity to provide special opportunities for worship and service to the community at large. Our present church, constructed in 1904, is located right across the road from the red granite Pomeranian Settlement marker, which tells about the unique history of our area and our church.

St. Paul’s “old cemetery” is one of the oldest cemeteries in Marathon County. Housing the remains of many of the original immigrants to the area, the “old cemetery” became increasingly difficult to maintain after the turn of the 20th century. A motion was made and passed at the annual voters’ meeting in 1941 to buy the present red granite memorial to commemorate the pioneers buried there.
